Day 152 - 214 to go
Friday. Today was a big day filled with different achievements. 1st was fitting in Taylor’s mummy & tay time in between cake decorating, school pick up & her & bella going to Nana & Poppa’s for the night. We went down to the bridge & wharf by the Wairoa river. It was pretty cool checking it all out - hanging out under the bridge ;) We live in a beautiful country! I surprised her by taking her to the chemist in Clevedon (when she thought we were done & going home) & buying her a pair of earrings that she had asked for the last time we were there :) She was so surprised! & I loved that they only cost $5!
Zeke & Madison had baths tonight! that in itself is an achievement ;) but as I was combing out zeke’s hair afterwards & having to cut so many knots out because they were more like dreads! I decided to give him a hair cut! I’m no hairdresser & we’ve been meaning to take him to one for ages now. After glenn & I doing a budget yesterday & realizing that actually we can’t afford to take him to the hairdressers I just went for it!! Will be interesting to see what he looks like in the morning! but for now, it’s cute & still curly so YAY!
lastly I made a start on the handbag cake for my Niece :) looking fwd to finishing it tomorrow & showing more then. kez* x
Day 151 - 215 to go
Thursday. So today’s achievement was making time for wee Madison’s project. She thought it would be cool to be able to put the photo’s I took of her & Daisy Duck the other night & put them into the journal. So in the mad morning school rush I found the time to stop & put the photo’s on a memory stick to take into kindy - hoping like crazy they’d be happy to print it as we’ve got very little ink left on ours!
At kindy, Madison showed one of her teachers the journal while I quizzed another about printing the pics out. They were more than happy to do that and were really excited that Madi had fully taken the idea of the whole project & run with it! They loved how she drew a pic of daisy & wrote a story AND included photos! I was super proud of her too & loved watching her cut her photos out & glue them in :) She looked so pleased with herself it was awesome!
There has been times with the other kids where we’ve intended to do similar things & I haven’t followed through. I’m so glad that I did today & am trying to do that more with all my kids. So important to have integrity as a parent. That’s all! ;) kez* x
Day 150 - 216 to go
Wednesday. So today I travelled out west to visit my sister & her kiddies & to see their new house that they’ve just moved into! It was so awesome to see her, felt like ages since we last hung out! We had yummy pumpkin soup for lunch (thanks Kris!!) and the kids enjoyed seeing each other too! Zeke was very unsure in the new place! but he had a good time in between asking to go home!!
While I was there the school called me to say that Taylor was in the sick bay with a swollen thumb after a sport injury!! being nearly an hours drive away I called glenn to see if he could sort it out. They went out to the a&e had an x-ray, fortunately no break just a sprain. She got it taped up & then wanted to go back to school for her talent quest heat in the afternoon.
I left Sheridan’s in enough time to pick up Glenn & head back down to school to watch Taylor dance. She did so well :) even one of the teachers/judges there commended her for getting up there on her own & dancing in front of everyone! her teacher said to us as we were leaving how amazed he was at her, he didn’t realise she was going to do that! So it was nice to see his surprise too :) We walked out of there - extremely proud parents :) it was a great achieving day today. kez* x
Day 149 - 217 to go
Tuesday. Food shop day! So nice having food in the house again! :) Today was filled with a few ‘little’ achievements - like the food shop, something that has to be done - but I now like to view as ‘achieved’ ;)
Madison came home from Kindy with Daisy Duck & a journal for her to draw a picture or write a story etc about her time with Daisy at her house! She was SO excited about this, she told me all about how she had to sign Daisy out at kindy & then she was off & drawing a picture of daisy in the scrapbook. I loved seeing her enthusiasm. Just before bed - Bella got into it with her too. I had earlier written on a piece of Paper ‘Madison and Daisy Duck’ so Madi could write it above her picture, which she did. Bella decided to help her more & wrote a story asking madi for input about what they had done that afternoon. She left enough space for Madi to copy the words underneath :) It was super cute & a lovely ‘sister moment’. So part of my achievement today was taking photo’s of Madi at bedtime, writing in the book & cuddling Daisy in bed that we will print out (hoping we have enough ink!!) & stick into the book! :)
Day 148 - 218 to go
Monday. Queens Birthday but more importantly my Dad’s birthday!!
Today I …
Slept in. Picked my girls up from their sleep over. Brought my son a b’day present. Did some washing. Watched a movie with the kids. Had an afternoon sleep!! Oh yeah!! and called my awesome daddy on his birthday! He really is an amazing father & all us 5 kids are so blessed to have him as our dad :) This post is for him!
I love you dad!
Day 147 - 219 to go
Sunday. Today after church I went over to my eldest brother’s house for lunch. When I got there he told me that he was taking me out!! it was a complete surprise! and SO awesome!! Carla looked after my 4 kids as well as her two! (glenn was at a movie with mike). We headed out to Nosh & had a coffee & the yummiest brioche ever!! is that how you spell it!?! I have no idea!! It is such a rare event & one that I will cherish :) I hunted through old family photo’s I have & sadly these two are the only ones I could find of me & Nige when I was little! I know there has to be more out there!
Thank you bro, it was an awesome surprise! & I loved it! Thanks also to Carla for looking after my kids & having the 3 girls tonight for a sleepover!! hope they’re behaving!! ;) kez* x
Day 146 - 220 to go
Saturday. I have just packed up the Thomas Cake & passed it onto my friend for her son’s b’day tomorrow! It turned out way better than I expected & I’m SUPER stoked! It took WAY more time than I had thought too! but that’s OK! it happens when you’re still learning & doing something new :)
I loved her reaction to seeing it for the first time! felt so awesome! Now my head can say goodbye to Thomas & hello to a handbag cake for my niece!! :)
Happy Saturday! kez* x
Day 145 - 221 to go
Friday. I did it!! YAY! I haven’t finished the cake yet, but I have finished making Thomas the tank engine out of fondant! WOW that was hard work & took a long time - but I’m super happy with it :) Now a break for dinner & getting kids to bed & then back into it with more details for the cake :) Stay tuned for the end result tomorrow!!
Day 144 - 222 to go
Thursday. Today was incredibly frustrating!! Our coffee machine broke & so glenn spent a lot of time fixing it. Which meant the water had to be off. I couldn’t do much without water to help clean up & keep me clean & tidy working!! So it wasn’t until after an early dinner (5pm) that I got to get my fondant on the cake!! Zeke missed his afternoon nap so he was loosing the plot at 6pm! So I think I got him in bed by 6.30 & then decided to hang out with the girls until bedtime! now that Taylor is older she doesn’t get into bed until 8pm so after she was the last kid down I went back to the kitchen & managed (barely) to start getting the hill scenery on the cake - I made a few mistakes & realised I was just too tired to keep going at it! So I’m off to bed now, & hoping that tomorrow will be a more productive day!
Day 143 - 223 to go
Wednesday. I have to say - not much was done today. But what I did do was super important. I made the cake that will over the next couple of days turn into the ‘Thomas Cake’ for a little 7 year old guy who loves trains :) I have also just made some cupcakes for the kids school’s “funky food friday”. Will have fun icing them tomorrow.
It’s late, & I’m looking forward to my bed. kez* x
